Welcome to CCJ Maths
CCJ Maths provides inspirational training for schools and a wide range of resources to support the teaching and learning of primary maths.
Chris is an independent maths consultant based in Milton Keynes, England. She has many years of experience in developing mathematical thinking in schools and is renowned for her lively, thought provoking and creative work.
She has been a Consultant for the Numeracy Project, Numeracy Strategy and Primary Strategy, writing materials and leading training for consultants regionally and nationally. She was also Maths Lead for the Primary and Secondary teams for Central Bedfordshire.
She now works in schools, assessing their needs and planning and delivering support to leaders, staff and parents. She also delivers training to teachers and TAs, including MA level training for the Mathematics Specialist Teacher programme.
Winner of the Best Overall Primary Maths resource in the 2009 TES/ATM competition, her ideas and resources, especially her maths planning support files, are used by thousands of schools.
I will be adapting the plans to meet the requirements of the new curriculum over the next year. There will be a new structure, but still a focus on practical, investigative mathematical activities that lead to real learning and which fulfils the Ofsted expectations for outstanding teaching that "Teachers nurture mathematical independence, allowing time for thinking and encouraging discussion. Problem- solving, discussion and investigation are integral to pupils’ learning of mathematics."
Once the final documents are published I'll start re-writing, but I don't intend to rush the process! There will be no need to change over part way through the year, and I hope the transition for September 2014 should be fairly seamless. Do contact me if you have any questions.
On this website you will find lots of resources, including innovative maths planning for numeracy lessons. Plans are available for Years 1 to 6, for both single year group and mixed age classes, and are easy to use. They're in use in schools all around the country, and further afield, and have transformed maths lessons for many teachers. If you're looking for investigative, independent work for children that leads to deep understanding (and no worksheets!), this is just what you need.
The site includes a Members Section where members will find full planning, with lots of original activities, and more new resources.
